Darryl and Sharon Jones

Where did we find him?   We didn’t. He found us (with God’s help). In 1999, Darryl and his wife, Sharon, planted the seeds of Crossroads Church – in their living room, with three other adults and six children. Their dream was to reach out to those who weren’t currently attending church and share the truth that they mattered to God and he wanted to have a real, personal relationship with Him.

What he does @ Crossroads?  He is the founder of our church, the featured speaker in our weekend services, he oversees the operation and details of the church, empowers and employs leadership to hand ministry over to the real ministers of the church...the people.

His all-time favorite role: Being best friends with his wife, Sharon, and a role model, teacher and daddy to their three children – twin girls – Brooke and Brittany, and son Brian.

Five ways to describe him: passionate...animated...praises Christ...adores his wife...wired to inspire & encourage.

His specialty: Being casual, comfortable, and practical. Darryl believes that young families today need more of a reason to go to church than just because it's the "right thing" or "traditional thing" to do. Darryl & Sharon’s passion is to create a church environment that is biblically relevant and practical to today's young families. People today don’t have time for useless, condescending messages preceded by antiquated music that they don't understand. Jesus was relevant to His peers, and we should be, too.

His weaknesses: the smell of fresh ground coffee...technology gadgets...he’s ADD (Attention Deficit Dis…)...and OCD (Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder)...a most severe extremist to the Nth degree...

The college years: Graduated with a BA in Pastoral Studies from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. Currently pursing an MDiv from Liberty Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, VA.

In a previous life: In the pre-Crossroads years, Darryl served nearly 8 years as 2nd man in two churches – one in Tennessee and another in Ohio. He served in administrative roles, while at the same time, he and Sharon served as Youth & Worship Pastors in those respective churches.

What makes him laugh: Everybody Loves Raymond...King of Queens...mall-walkers...watching people stammer out of a lie...Meet the Parents/Fockers...his kids.

What makes him cry: Movies where two conflicted people fall in love and one dies in the arms of the other...sniff, drip... No, seriously, what really breaks Darryl’s heart is when church people, God’s people, put obstacles in the ways of other believers and seekers so that they can’t see or reach a real, genuine relationship with Christ…when believers make Christianity about a job, or a task or a set of rules rather than knowing and experiencing Jesus...His power...His passion...His suffering.

What he hates: Feet and toes...YUCK!
